To marry a poet?

I wish to marry a poet

One that will take my pains away with his poetic ink

One that will make me smile with similes

Comparing me to the most beautiful things on earth

I must marry a poet

One that will melt my heart with metaphor

When we meet at four for late lunch

I wish to marry a poet

That I may boast of his personified love for me

And sing of his Epic care for me

I wish to marry a poet

one that will never scrub me with the sponge of irony

Nor bath me with the soap of euphemism

But will continually write me Odes

And sing me songs of praises

I Shall marry a poet

One whose heart beat will rhyme and resonate with mine

one that will charge my dead heart with the electricity of love and wouldn't even need a metre

I wish to marry a poet

One who would contradict me like an oxymoron

One who will complement me

Should I marry a poet

Or become a poetess

I will marry a poet

And become a poetess as I sing the beautiful Ekun iyawo on my wedding day
